Don’t wait. Create.

Alot of musicians/artists are waiting for THE situation. THE opportunity. THE moment. THE song they will write that will make them famous. THE gig that will get them discovered. THE studio session that will make them be in contact with the giants in industry.

People, this will, maybe, never happen. If so, you are lucky. But even if you get one of those opportunities, is that all? Is your life complete? This is not the purpose of being a musician at all.

You have to practice everyday. You have to meet cool musicians. You have to jam, create, improvise. You try some stuff out. You upload videos. You create yourself a bandcamp account. You ask for other musicians some collabs. You learn new songs. You watch tutorials on the net. You put some songs and jam on it.

You don’t need any opportunities by doing that. You live fully in your passion, your art. You will improve as a human being, musician and artist. You will be passionate and will learn.

Yes we all want to be Flea and tour the world and be rich… but these kind of people got lucky. But, before that, they worked HARD AS HELL. So I think that instead of “WAITING” for the golden opportunity, just work hard and have fun. Be in the right place at the right time. And boom. You made it.

Musician life

So i’m trying to analyse the real-artist-musician life. So let’s see a musician just graduated from music college. He has his diploma, and starts working in regular clubs, do some studio work, play some live shows, form a band, and some really lucky people becomes ultra-famous and they get billionaires.

The musician get up around 11 o’clock in the morning. Maybe practices a little, maybe has another job to pay the bills, maybe he party alot so he gets up around 15:00 pm, maybe he’s depressed because he didin’t think this is the musician real life, he got too much an illusion with all the rockstars and extreme life add-ons: Chicks, booze, money, ultra-fast-lifestyle.

The lucky musician can go on tour and gets paid alot. The ultra-lucky musician goes on tour without any attachments (Girlfriend, family, kids, dogs, etc). So he can be really happy.

Why i’m telling you all this?

It’s because I’m trying to analyse the real deal about all this. Anyone who picks up an instrument can be a crazy musician. You don’t need to study music, you don’t need to go on tour, you just need to sit and practice. The person who works 9 to 5 each morning, the father of 4 kids, the person with no jobs, we all have time to invest in our musical practice. If not we are lazy. Being lazy is bad. REALLY BAD. I think whenever we act has lazy human beings we should have a fee because it’s not cool. We should always create, produce, experiment, bring something to the humanity.

Rare are people who become millionaires with all this. Sure you have to work hard, but alot people still do and they still don’t become ultra-famous. But in the end of the day… what’s the main lesson of all this?

You are happy with your music. You are happy with your art. You play well. You improve yourself. You share your art. You learn. You make cool connection. You bring something creative to this world.

You can ask Elton John, Steven Tyler, Prince, Eminem, i’m sure that deep down inside them it’s something like this.

You are in school? You have a demanding job? You hate your life? It’s not a reason to NOT practice. So practice your insrtument, your art, and alot of good things will happen.
