Yeah today was my bass lessons. I was showing to my teacher the homework he gave me, it went pretty well, i practiced alot. So just in a middle of nowhere, my bass teacher shows up a sheet music and said OK. NOW READ THIS.

So i was like, uhhh, i cant read notes lol. I only know the notes order on a sheet and i have to think about 10 seconds per each note lol. So he said It dosent matter. READ THIS. TAKE YOUR TIME AND FOLLOW THIS TEMPO. So he gived me a slow tempo and i tried to play the sheet music. It was a Jazz Walking Bass and after 10 minutes of trying, i played it. Not perfect, I had tempo problems but i still played every notes well. So now, im learning 2 new things: NOTES AND WALKING BASS. These are 2 really popular domains in bass that is unknown for me. Im happy. It will be hard work but i know it will be worted. I hate tabs. I want to be able to pick any music sheet book and play anything I want just by looking at the notes. And I want to be able to walk a bass line with a crazy saxophonist and pianist. I want to explore the jazzy domain. hehe.

My teacher gave me a Jeff Berlin song to learn: Joe Frazier. Its a really complicated song. Here is my first attempt to it. I have to get the groove right. but hey, its a practice. so im going to post my performance on that song.

Right now im on my break in university. I just went to check out some emails and i feel like writing a blog. hehehiehiehie

I have 2 cool news. First, Cd Baby received my cds. So now you can all buy it. It was sold out but i sent them alot alot of cds. So check it out HERE

Besides that, I Have 2 shows this week. Thursday and Friday with my band Syrcusand Maze . We have 3 really cool new songs and i really cant wait to play them live. We have our record/demo launch the 12th november. ill post the details another time because now im to lazy to open another window on internet and copy paste the details here. LOL

Tonight im going to jam with my drummer Michael Carlucci for our Bass and Drum project. Ill probably post some videos of some ideas/jam we will make. I bougth new Elixir Bass Strings on my Sterling bass and it sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just came back from my first Eletroacoustic Practice ever. I went into a cool place called Db Media. Its a huge place with many recording rooms, mixing boards, computers etc. I arrived there at 19:15, 15 minutes late. ( I had to take a shit… lollllllllll) And Nobody arrived except for Sylvain Pohu , a really sick guitar player. He his the one who organize the show. So we talked a little and basically explained to me what the show was all about. He said:

- Ok, you play bass? Well, for that show, forget about rythm, forget about Melody, forget about timing, only focus on the sound.

hehehe. I wasent mad or suprised, I knew I’ll have to play something like that, its an Electroacoustic Show. For all of you who are like ” WHAT THE HELL IS ELECTROACOUSTIC ????”, here is the Wikipedia definition:

Electroacoustic compositions also often explore spatial characteristics of sound, as sounds can be given trajectories, and can be placed in distant or near fields of listening. Electroacoustic music is typically less preoccupied with the ‘traditional’ concerns of score-based music- rhythm and melody- and more concerned with the interplay of gesture and texture, and what Denis Smalley has termed spectromorphology—the sculpting of the sound spectrum in time.

Ok so the other artists arrived. A jazzy experimental female singer and 2 computer artists music ( They had many interfaces and they were creating their own sound in a live mode. hehe)

So we started jamming. It was the most weird, original, magical jam I had ever done. We were creating a surreal atmosphere with all of our instruments. I was playing notes, but in an ambient way, in a supportive way for the GLOBAL JAM, not for myself. Electroacoustic jams are so fun.

So the show is Monday, at a place called Sala Rosa. We have about 45 minutes onstage. It will be All Improv.

Man, since Jeff won the solo bass competition held by Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey, He made me mature so much on bass. Its because of him im playing more mature, then just slap like a crazy maniac on bass hehe. So im so happy when I read that email! hehe

So yeah, im in university and its AMAZING. i love it. My bass courses are so cool. My teacher gave me 2 songs to learn:

Jaco Pastorius — Donna Lee
Jeff Berlin — Joe Frazier

Its so hard. But its cool. Im improving like crazy. In my other school, I was in Multimedia. So I had to do my homeworks, and THEN concentrate on music. But now, IM ALWAYS DOING MUSIC. hehehehhehee. Im so happy with that its not even imaginable. For the first time i CANT WAIT to go to school, to listen to my teachers, doing my homeworks hehe. Its music man what do you want more? hehe

My cd’s on CdBaby Sold Out. They wrote me an email so I have to send them more cd’s. Since my record selling on Cd Baby is going well, they sent my music to Apple — Itunes. man. i hope they will accept it.

Im doing an Electroacoustic Show Monday September 25th. Im going to play bass and some sick dj’s and computer artists will manipulate my sound true some interfaces. Its going to be a mysterious show because i really dont know what to expect. I always wanted to do some stuff like that: Improvisation + New Music Technology + Origial + Electroacoustic hehe. I’m going to post you guys some footage of that dont worry. hehe.
