Finding the Sound

I realized that one of the hardest thing to do as a musician is to Find is own sound. It’s normal for everybody to get influenced by their idols, to copy their style, to play the songs they like, no matter what we do, we took it from somewhere. But to actually mix some influences in a way to create a unique sound, it can take years to achieve. I am slowly starting to create mine. When I started playing bass, I was mad because no matter what I did, I sounded like Flea. Then I realized that he was my ONLY influence. haha. So I started to open my mind and listen to any form of sound I could. 6 years later, I realized that no matter what I listened, Flea stayed my main influence but with John Frusciante. So many people are telling me by emails that I created a weird mix of Flea and John’s playing. Thats cool. But still, i’m feeling it. I’m feeling that I am coming up with something. We will see what happens next.

And I dont like studio sessions. I love to jam and to play live and to improvise and to explore and experiment but when comes the time to reccord to let people listen to what I play, I dont like that. Thats why Im doing alot of YouTube Session Time hehehe http://www.youtube.com/propea
