hey alllll!!!!!!!!!
Ok. I did a solo bass set last Wednesday and it went SO great!!!!! It seems that I’m starting to get really confortable with every of my solo bass songs. SO confortable that I can improvise in them and change some little stuff here and there. My groove improved ALOT! I’m so proud of it!! My biggest stress in shows is that I am afraid that people will talk really loud during my set. When you are in a band, it’s not bad because even if people are talking, you are playing really loud so you wont hear them. But as a solo bassist, YOU HEAR THEM. And i get really distracted with that. But last wednesday, people were not talking. It was all silent exept for my deep bass notes. I felt like in another planet. I got so much into my bass playing during that show that I forgot I was on stage… it was awesome. I played 2 of my new songs and people seemed to enjoy them!
It’s so cool to do a solo bass set in front of people who never heard of solo bass. People are there, chilling, and suddenly they see a skinny guy with a huge affro going on stage with only his bass on. People are always like: Where the hell is the band?
But when I start playing, people are having fun. This is what makes me so happy: I am able to connect with people with only my bass. I never talk during my set. I only say OK THANK YOU SO MUCH!! at the end. But I never explain my songs or say jokes. I dont like that. I’m shy. haha.
