Alot of people ask me some tips on how to practice bass, how to do shows, how to do bass solos, how to record your own videos, how to slap, how to tap etc. So my advice for all of you people is: DO EVERYTHING NOW. NOT LATER.

I want to do shows but I am not good enough. How long should I wait?
DON’T WAIT. DO THEM NOW. plan some shows, go at your school and subscribe yourself to some talent competitions, ask some bands if they need an opening act. You will NEVER be good enough to do shows. PERFECTION DOESN’T EXIST. Have fun now. GO on stage, enjoy playing your instrument. You will earn experience, earn some constructive criticism that will make you improve as an artist.

The more you try stuff, the more good you are going to be at it. If you do nothing, you will earn nothing. If you do bad stuff, you will learn from them.

I want to record myself playing but my camera is broken ( Or is not good enough)
You certainly know at least ONE person ( Friend, family) that as a cheap webcam. Or just go buy one cheap. The important is not the quality of the video neither of the sound. The important is that you share something that you believe in, that you let your soul express it and that you want to share it with other people. NEVER WAIT. DO IT NOW.

My band members don’t want a lot of bass solos in our band.
So what? Just take the time that you have alone to write bass solos for your own personal material. Don’t wait for the approval of others. Do it for you. Do it because you enjoy it. Lock yourself in your room and experiment bass solos. When you go to your band practice, focus on groove. Focus on how your bass can had some sickness to your band.

I want to record an album but maybe later. I don’t have time now
YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TIME. Do it NOW. start slowly. Take 30 minutes each days to focus on what you want to put in your record. When this is done, take 30 minutes each days practicing the material of your upcoming record. After, just take the cheapest, easiest way to record your album and do it slowly. Take your time but DO SOMETHING. LATER DOES NOT EXIST. It’s NOW of NEVER.

I don’t know how to book shows. I don’t know anyone. I don’t have money for promotion.
So create your own shows. Go with some musicians on the street, in front of a house on a beautiful day and PLAY. like I did here.

LATER does not exist. Remove that therm from your mind. You have to start NOW.

You have a sick idea in your head? HURRY, TAKE A PENCIL AND NOTE IT DOWN NOW. NEVER LET IDEAS RUN OUT OF YOUR MIND.
You want to learn how to slap? START LEARNING NOW
You want to build a website, share your work? START DOING IT NOW.

Procrastination kills art

Hey everyone!

Just having fun building all the parts of the 90210 Theme Song with my bass. The background tracks come from my loop pedal. They were recorded just before the video. I’m using my foot to switch between background tracks hehe.

So at my bass practice this morning, I was jamming on a lot of songs and I the song Da Funk by Daft Punk popped out.

I decided to cover it with only my pedals and solo bass looping pedal. No background tracks. A bit like I did with my cover of Robot Rock.

The distorsionned wah sound at the beginning will be difficult to reproduce. I tried a test with my Wah + Distorsion + Whammy pedal. It’s not bad but I have to spend more time tweeking the sound lol

The drum patterns changes alot also.

It will be fun to cover! yessssssss
